I collaborated with Ghost Inspector's founder (who built the app) and Operations & Strategy Lead (with deep customer insights) to redesign the UI for their automated testing application. Our primary goal was to enhance the visual experience while maintaining the existing user experience (UX) and functionality that users relied on. Additionally, we aimed to streamline the organization and clarity of the app's content and data for improved usability.
Balancing User Needs with Change Management
Initially, I envisioned a more ambitious redesign that included UX improvements and automation features to reduce repetitive tasks. However, after discussing these plans with the team, we decided on a more measured approach. We prioritized user comfort and minimized disruption by keeping the core UX familiar to existing users. This decision stemmed from a concern that introducing too many changes at once could alienate longtime customers accustomed to the current workflow.
The redesign led to a surge in active users, with a 2% increase in the first month and an impressive 11% gain within 6 months. Additionally, we saw a healthy 5% revenue increase that quarter.
